Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
"The Hope from Godly Sorrow"
"And Shechaniah the son of Jehiel, one of the sons of Elam, spoke up and said to Ezra, “We have trespassed against our God, and have taken pagan wives from the peoples of the land; yet now there is hope in Israel in spite of this."
Having Breakfast this morning with Jesus, I was reminded of the fruit from godly sorrow - Repentance.
Shechaniah spoke up and "owned the sin of Israel," no excuses, he wept with the people and displayed godly sorrow; genuine regret for this sin. God's Goodness brought Israel to this moment of godly sorrow!
Not all weeping is godly sorrow. Some people are "sorry their sin was found out," this is the sorrow of the world (2Corin.7:8-12). This sorrow of the world does not produce Repentance and a Changed life.
Godly sorrow produces Repentance, and Repentance brings Hope from God's Forgiveness, and a Changed life that He works in us (Phil.2:12-13).
It still amazes me how God does everything for us.
He came from heaven to become like us in every way, except sin;
He died our death so we could Live with Him forever.
His Goodness doesn't stop if we sin - but instead, "leads us to godly sorrow and repentance, (Rom.2:4), bringing us back into fellowship with Him; and continues His work of transformation in our life: "changing us from glory to glory more into His image" (2Corin.3:18).
Like Israel, "there is hope in spite of our sin," when we "own our sin," by confession and repentance; and obey our King's Commands. We obey our King because we Love our King. Our Love is Proven and Demonstrated by our Obedience! ( John 14:15).
A life of constant transformation is before us my fellow Warrior. God will do all the work as we cooperate with Him through our Trust and Obedience.
What a Great Life! Growing into the image of our Commander and King - as we Trust and Obey Him. Ooooh Rah!
