Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Exodus 27:20 - 28:14)
“The Lamp shall burn continually”
Text: Exodus 27:20
“And you shall command the children of Israel that they bring you pure oil of pressed olives for the light, to cause the lamp to burn continually.”
“The Lamp shall burn continually,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
The priests were to care for the lamps on the Lampstand and “cause the Lamp to burn continually.”
Josephus who also was a priest, tells us that they burned the lamps day and night, three of them being kept burning all day and the rest of them being lighted at twilight. This explains Aaron lighting the lamps at twilight:
“And when Aaron lights the lamps at twilight, he shall burn incense on it, a perpetual incense before the LORD throughout your generations.”(Exod.30:8).
The oil was pure olive oil from bruised, not crushed olives. This symbolized our King Jesus Christ the “Perfect Olive
” that was “bruised for our sin”(Isa.53:5); and the “Oil,” symbolizes the gifts and graces of Holy Spirit that flows to the Believer from the Perfect Olive of Jesus Christ.
The Hebrew word for “burn,” does not mean to consume; it is regularly used to express “the action of fire upon what is offered to Yahweh.”
This expresses the Warrior’s Devotion to their Commander and King.
As Warriors and Priests of God we are expected to light our lamps daily and cause them to burn continually so we will be the light in this dark and desperate world!
“You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.
Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”(Matt.5:12-14).
God gives us His Oil to keep our Lamps burning; but you and I must “tend and care and Keep The Fire of our Devotion to our King burn continually!” Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
