Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Kings 2)
“The Mantle of God”
Text: 2Kings 2:13
“He also took up the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and went back and stood by the bank of the Jordan.”
“The Mantle of God,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. Elijah’s ascent to Heaven was a type of our Commander’s ascent to Heaven! The Mantle of God that “clothed Elijah,” Empowered him to serve, Cared for him miraculously in the desert, and Kept him faithful unto the end!
When the Mantle of God fell from Elijah, Elisha had to pick it up and “use it immediately,” to demonstrate that Elijah’s ministry had been transferred to Elisha! Elisha asked for a “double portion” not to have more power than Elijah - but because it was the right of the firstborn (Deut.21:17); the first disciple of Elijah.....
The Mantle of God that Empowered, Cared for, and Kept Jesus to the end of His Mission was left to His disciples, you and I.
The Mantle of God for Warriors is Jesus Christ Himself:
“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lusts.” (Rom.13:14).
“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.” (Gal.3:27).
“Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.” (Luke 24:49).
And our Mantle of God promises us a double portion also when we use the Faith He has given to us:
“Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.
And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.” (John 14:12).
Elisha picked up the Mantle of God and Stood by the bank of the Jordan! The first “obstacle” he faced, and the he “used it:”
“Then he took the mantle of Elijah that had fallen from him, and struck the water, and said, “Where is the LORD God of Elijah?” And when he also had struck the water, it was divided this way and that; and Elisha crossed over.” (2Kings 2:14).
When he said these words it was as if he was saying “where is the LORD God of Elijah, that Empowered, Cared for, and Kept him all the way to the end?”
He struck the water with the Mantle! And the waters parted, because Elisha picked the Mantle up and used it!
Listen up Warrior! We have been clothed with the Mantle of God, our Commander Himself! We’re clothed with this Mantle as sons and daughters of God. However, we must use His Word by Faith regularly or we will forget that we have it. We’ll wear ourself out trying to do the impossible in our own strength instead of “striking the water of impossibility with God’s Word and the Power of the Mantle of God that clothes us!
Our Commander reminds us this morning:
“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19).
You are Clothed by the Mantle of God Warrior! Deploy His Power regularly against the waters of impossibility and you will shine brightly for all to see “How Great Is Our God and King! Show off your clothes by your Faith! Oooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
