Good Morning Warrior!

(Genesis 19 - 21)
“The Peril of Drifting”
Text: Genesis 20:2
“Now Abraham said of Sarah his wife, “She is my sister.” And Abimelech king of Gerar sent and took Sarah.”
“The Peril of Drifting,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
“Drifting,” means “carried slowly by a current of air or water.” That’s where Lot was when he took his eyes off God’s Promise to his Uncle Abram, and “drifted” to Sodom, then “drifted” to the wicked culture of Sodom, then drifted to the Gate of leadership in Sodom, then lingered when the angels told him to leave, then drifted to Zoar and then the mountains; finally ending in the shame of incest that birthed the enemies of Israel, the Moabites and the Ammonites.
Drifting is slow and draws us deeper into the vacuum of sin unless we Repent, Reconnect, and Restore our Relationship with God.
This is where Abraham was also. He allowed the Fear of the people to disconnect him from Trusting in God’s protection of him and Sarah; Again! What we learn from Abraham is that “drifting” can come to anyone’s life; as a new believer, a disciple, or even a well seasoned Warrior like Abraham. We can repeat the sins of our youth in our old age, when we “drift,” from God.
Drifting begins with a disconnect from Intimacy with God.
By daily meeting with God for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner we stay connected with God; walking in daily fellowship with Him. This becomes a normal lifestyle. We’re a Lamp with a Power Cord plugged into Jesus the Source of our Power. If this is interrupted for any reason, the Power Cord is pulled out, We Feel it in our spirit, an alarm goes off in our heart, and we take action to reconnect with God by confession and repentance. We plug our power cord back into Jesus! If we linger, like Lot did; we drift farther away into deeper sin, hurt, and destruction.
Don’t Linger Warrior! Stay Plugged Into Your Commander Jesus Christ and you will avoid The Peril of Drifting! Ooooh Rah!
