Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day;
“The Shadow of A Better Promise”
“Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine.”
The Shadow of A Better Promise is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. We have an extra day in February this year so I wanted to share our Text again this morning on this point of Covenant.
The Light of someone ahead of us casts a shadow behind the person ahead of us. Our Commander’s Light casts a shadow over us, covering us in the Shadow of His wings (Psa.91:4). We walk through the “shadow” of the valley of death (Psa.23:4), because our Commander has already ‘passed through that valley ahead of us! Ooooh Rah!
This first covenant of promise God is making with Israel is a ‘shadow’ of a Better Covenant and a Better Promise ahead. This first covenant was our Guardian to teach us the futility of our own efforts and willpower to ‘keep this covenant.’ (Gal.3:23-25).
Today there are still people trying to “work their way into righteousness with ‘dead works,’ like the Galatian church was doing (Gal.3:10).
Our Covenant today, on this side of the Cross, is by far a Better Covenant and a Better Promise. We have a Perfect High Priest Who IS Both Mediator and Sacrifice. Our Commander Himself is doing the ‘work’ we could never do! Transforming us, “working in us both to Will and to Do of His good pleasure,” (Phil.2:13). His Covenant of Promise is not written on tablets of stone (like the first one); but on the fleshly tablets of our heart and mind (Jer.31:31-34) - making us His living letters known and read by all mankind (2Corin.3:2,3,18).
Our part in this Better Covenant is to surrender unconditionally to His Love, and let His Love become our Love. This is a continuing act of Faith and Trust in our Commander and King. For the Warrior walks by Faith and not by sight (2Corin.5:7). Our Covenant is a Perfect Covenant because our Commander Almighty God is Perfect, and He Does All The Work - We Trust and Obey and Walk With Him. Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
