Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Judges 1:1 - 2:5)
“The Snare of Idolatry”
Text: Judges 2:1-3
“Then the Angel of the LORD came up from Gilgal to Bochim, and said: “I led you up from Egypt and brought you to the land of which I swore to your fathers; and I said, ‘I will never break My covenant with you.
And you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; you shall tear down their altars.’ But you have not obeyed My voice. Why have you done this?
Therefore I also said, ‘I will not drive them out before you; but they shall be thorns in your side, and their gods shall be a snare to you.’ ”
“The Snare of Idolatry,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. This snare has hounded mankind since the Garden of Eden; “man doing what was right in their own eyes.” (Judges 21:25)
Idolatry is when we make our self the center of our life , just like the letter i is the middle letter of sin.
Israel disobeyed God because of idolatry; doing what was right in their own eyes instead of obeying God’s Instruction to “take no prisoners!” When people break God’s Rules of Engagement they have “excuses,” like “I’ll make them slaves to work for me at my own pleasure.” The problem with this excuse is that slaves multiply and become a Legion of demons that makes YOU Their Slave!
Listen up Warrior! Holiness makes no room for sin! Ooooh Rah.
“Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.
And do not present your members as instruments of unrighteousness to sin, but present yourselves to God as being alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God.
For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.” (Rom.6:11-14).
Ephraim and Manasseh let a man and his family from the city of Luz go free; and this family built a city of wickedness and named it Luz again! (Judges 1:23-26).
Here’s the bottom line Warriors,
the snare of sin will make you ineffective in combat and ultimately it will kill you. Take a lesson from Israel and obey God’s Rules of Engagement: each and every sin must be executed immediately with confession and repentance! Oooh Rah!
