Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(1Samuel 28 & 29)
“The Snare of sin”
Text: 1Samuel 29:3
“Then the princes of the Philistines said, “What are these Hebrews doing here?”
And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines, “Is this not David, the servant of Saul king of Israel, who has been with me these days, or these years? And to this day I have found no fault in him since he defected to me.”
Oh “The Snare of sin,” that’s what’s on the menu for Breakfast this morning.
William Shakespeare once wrote about deception when he said:
“Oh what a tangled web we weave
When first we practice to deceive.”
Like a spider weaving his web, sin weaves it’s web to ensnare you and I; like a fly caught in the web of sin!
Saul has been entangled in this web for over 20 years rejecting God’s Mercy and Deliverance until there was no place of repentance.
David, having left his people and joined the Philistine enemy for protection, was pretending defection to the enemy. The web of sin, the fear of man that causes a snare (Prov.29:25), has snared David for 1 year and 4 months! (1 Sam.27:7).
Shakespeare’s words are a picture of David’s mess now. Achish the Philistine leader is defending David’s loyalty to him by telling his fellow leaders “to this day I have found no fault in him since he defected to me!”
What a powerful “wake up call” this should be to a believer’s heart! When our enemy defends our loyalty to sin!
This would be like an ungodly co-worker insisting to others on your job that you’re really not a Christian because they have seen the way you live…..
Fortunately for David the Philistine Lord’s Knew who David was - when David had Forgotten who he was; and said “He doesn’t belong here with us!”
Aaaaah, can you see the Wonder of God’s Rescue Plan for David? A Song! A song they all remembered: “Saul has slain his thousands and David has slain his ten thousands!”
David was rescued from The Snare of sin, with a Song!
The effect of this Song broke through the snare of sin and set David back on course with his destiny.
There is a song for you and I Warrior! A Song we can sing regularly to clear out the cobwebs that can gather unknowingly in our heart:
“He brought me in
From the fields of sin.
With a hand of mercy
He brought me in……
Just look out yonder
Where I have been,
Oh I praise God
He brought me in…”
Oh Hallelujah! Let the fire of Praise burn on the altar of your heart Warrior! It will keep the cobwebs and the snare of sin out of your life! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
