Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Kings 1)
“The Sovereign Mercy of God”
Text: 2 Kings 1:16
“Then he said to him, “Thus says the LORD: ‘Because you have sent messengers to inquire of Baal-Zebub, the god of Ekron, is it because there is no God in Israel to inquire of His word? Therefore you shall not come down from the bed to which you have gone up, but you shall surely die.’ ”
“The Sovereign Mercy of God,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. In Ahaziah’s wickedness and idolatry God could have struck up dead at any time, yet in His Sovereign Mercy He gave Ahaziah time to prepare for his death.
God’s words “you shall surely die,” gave Ahaziah time to confess and repent of his sin, and prepare for eternity! We don’t know if he did - but we do know that God gave him time to confess and repent of his sin at this last hour of his life.
Ezekiel also speaks of God’s Mercy when God tells him:
“Say to them: ‘As I live,’ says the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why should you die, O house of Israel?’” (Ezek.33:11).
In spite of Ahaziah’s wickedness, God’s Sovereign Mercy is Phenominal, showing that He Truly IS Longsuffering, not willing that Any should perish but that all would come to repentance.” (2Pet.3:9).
In our prayer for God’s Judgement upon the wicked let us remember to also pray for the wicked to confess and repent of their wickedness, “and turn from their evil ways and live!”
Remember that you and I were once enemies of God, but God’s Love, Grace, and Mercy made a way for us to come home to Him, through confession and repentance.
This is God’s Sovereign Mercy for mankind:
“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” (John 3:16-17).
My prayer for you and I is that our Commander Will help you and I see the troubled and hopeless soul of the wicked, not just their wickedness. They need to See the Love of God in you and I that rescued us from the hopelessness of sin. His Love that Overcame our evil! (Rom.12:21).
This Love will rescue them as well.
Behold The Sovereign Mercy of God! Oooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
