Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day: Gen.25
"The Tug of War"
"Then Jacob said, “Swear to me as of this day.”
So he swore to him, and sold his birthright to Jacob."
The Tug of War between God and satan is on our Breakfast menu this morning.
I remember this game we played as a kid; the Tug of War. It was a rope with two groups of kids on each end of the rope. A line was made on the ground separating them from each other. Then they began pulling against each other, trying to "pull the other group" on to their side of the line.
That's a picture of our life as a Believer, and as a Warrior. We are engaged in a spiritual "tug of war," every day. Good and evil, righteousness and unrighteousness, "the things of God and the things of this world system; tugging at our heart, trying to pull us on to their side.
Beginning with Adam and Eve, then Noah, and now Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; they all had to Choose "which side would win the tug of war."
Jacob favored the spiritual side of the birthright, promise and spiritual inheritance - and Esau favored the worldly sensual, "feel good" side.
The "wrinkle" for Jacob was that he was trying to bargain for what was already his (v.23).
Our take away lesson from this event is that the longer we walk with and fight alongside with our Commander, the less the "tug of unrighteousness" and the world system will be. "The pleasures of this world," become unattractive to us(Titus 2:12); because "... we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire" (Heb.12:28-29). Ooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
