Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(Deuteronomy 26:16 - 27:26)
“To Love God and to Be Loved By God”
Text: Deuteronomy 26:16-17
“This day the LORD your God commands you to observe these statutes and judgments; therefore you shall be careful to observe them with all your heart and with all your soul.
Today you have proclaimed the LORD to be your God, and that you will walk in His ways and keep His statutes, His commandments, and His judgments, and that you will obey His voice.”
“To Love God and to Be Loved By God,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
Mankind was created in the image and likeness of God to Love God and to be loved by God.
Adam and Eve disobeyed God and chose to Love the devil and this sin has passed upon every human being ever since.
Their sin killed the innocent soul that Loved God and wanted only to be loved by God.
But God had an answer to this tragedy, a Promise that the Seed of the woman would crush the devil and resurrect a “new creation.” Yes, God had you and I on His mind in the Garden of Eden.
This choice of who we will Love is still before us as it was before Adam and Eve and Israel. Who we Love is Who we will obey.
In our text, Israel is choosing to Love God with all their heart and soul and demonstrating their love for God by their obedience to God’s commands and voice.
In response to Israel’s promise God says:
“Also today the LORD has proclaimed you to be His special people, just as He promised you, that you should keep all His commandments by,
and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to the LORD your God, just as He has spoken.” (Deut.26:18-19).
In other words, when Israel promises to love God Supremely God promises Israel they will be Loved by God.
The first commandment that God gave to Israel was to love Him supremely. When they loved Him supremely they obeyed His commandments and God demonstrated His Love for them by the blessing of His presence, provision, and protection of them.
By Loving God and being loved by God Israel walked triumphantly through every circumstance they faced. They walked in covenant with their God.
Sadly, this was not always the case for Israel because sometimes they loved the world around them more than God.
We obey who and what we love.
Please hear me Warrior. You and I need to guard our Treasure, our First and Only True Love, our King Jesus Christ! We Love Him more than anyone else or anything else in this world; and because we Love Him supremely we also Obey Him unconditionally! (John 15:10, 14).
Now you and I walk triumphantly through any and every storm, every battle of Faith in this Confidence that:
I Love God and I Am Loved By God! Oooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
Jesus and Billy
