It’s Celebration Sunday Morning! The Lord’s Day!
Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2Chron. 18 & 19)
“Trained By Chastening”
Text: 2Chron. 19:2
“And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate the LORD? Therefore the wrath of the LORD is upon you.
Nevertheless good things are found in you, in that you have removed the wooden images from the land, and have prepared your heart to seek God.”
“Trained By Chastening,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
King Jehoshaphat is rebuked for his support of wicked King Ahab by God’s Prophet Hanani. His response to this chastening was repentance and a return to his passion for “bringing Israel back to the Lord God of their fathers.”(v.4).
He commanded his appointed judges in the land with these words:
“And he commanded them, saying, “Thus you shall act in the fear of the LORD, faithfully and with a loyal heart:
Whatever case comes to you from your brethren who dwell in their cities, whether of bloodshed or offenses against law or commandment, against statutes or ordinances, you shall warn them, lest they trespass against the LORD and wrath come upon you and your brethren. Do this, and you will not be guilty.” (2Chron.19:9-10).
God’s chastening “trained” King Jehoshaphat, when he accepted the chastening and repented. He was Trained By Chastening.
He learned from his father King Asa, what happens when you reject God’s chastening, and hate the Prophet and put him in prison! (2Chron.16:7-10). King Asa became sick with a severe foot disease and died. He was not Trained by Chastening because he rejected it, and became bitter instead of better!
Take a Lesson from King Jehoshaphat my fellow Warrior! Accept the chastening and correction of the Lord and repent. Remember that God’s Love is behind everything He says and everything He does. He wants the very best for us!
The Bible says it this way:
“Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” (Heb.12:11).
Warrior at your side,
