Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Samuel 10 & 11)
“Walking In The Spirit”
Text: 2 Samuel 11:1
“It happened in the spring of the year, at the time when kings go out to battle, that David sent Joab and his servants with him, and all Israel; and they destroyed the people of Ammon and besieged Rabbah. But David remained at Jerusalem.”
The Principle of “Walking In The Spirit” is on on menu for Breakfast this morning.
King David was “Walking in the Spirit” when he was engaged in the Lord’s Battles with God’s Presence and Power.
King David knew he belonged with his army, leading them in the fight; but “he remained at Jerusalem,” instead.
In other words, he was not walking in the Spirit when he remained in Jerusalem; and this gave opportunity to fulfill his lust of the flesh.
It’s not difficult to know which has the greater influence in our heart - the Spirit or the flesh.
The Spirit has a long menu of Christian Graces, Love, Joy, Peace, Joy, and Wisdom.
The flesh has a long menu of lusts of the flesh, lusts of the eye, and pride of life.
Paul warned the Galatians of this:
“I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.
For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.” (Gal.5:16-18).
King David’s lust of unbridled passion began more that 20 years earlier when he married more than one wife. The law for the kings of Israel was that they should not multiply wives to themself. (Deut.17:17).
The “harvest” of this seed of indulgence would bring much grief to David within his family of multiple wives.
Walking In The Spirit would have averted this grief.
