Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
(2 Samuel 6)
“When Holy Is Treated as Common”
Text: 2 Samuel 6:6-7
“And when they came to Nachon’s threshing floor, Uzzah put out his hand to the ark of God and took hold of it, for the oxen stumbled.
Then the anger of the LORD was aroused against Uzzah, and God struck him there for his error; and he died there by the ark of God.”
“When Holy is Treated as Common,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning. Uzzah died because of his irreverence, in treating God’s Presence, represented by His Ark, as a common precious box. The word “error” in our text is translated from the Hebrew word for irreverence.
This act of irreverence was a symptom caused by the neglect of their duty to care for the Ark. The Ark was to be carried by the priests on their shoulders Not on a common oxen cart:
“And when Aaron and his sons have finished covering the sanctuary and all the furnishings of the sanctuary, when the camp is set to go, then the sons of Kohath shall come to carry them; but they shall not touch any holy thing, lest they die. “These are the things in the tabernacle of meeting which the sons of Kohath are to carry.” (Num.4:15).
The Priests were the custodians of the Ark and only the High Priest was permitted to enter the Holy of Holies place where the Ark rested; and then only once each year on Yom Kippur, the New Year, to offer the blood of sacrifice.
For Uzzah to “put out his hand to the ark, and take hold of it,” was to “Treat The Holy As Common.”
Our Commander Jesus Christ is our “Ark.” Noah’s Ark was a type of God’s Ark of the Covenant; “all the people and animals that were in the Ark were saved from the flood that covered the earth.
You and I as His Warriors are the “custodian” of the Ark of God entrusted to us, “to carry on our shoulders and in our heart.” With our Commander Jesus Christ Himself, God’s Ark, living in you and I constantly; how do we Treat Him? With godly reverence, love and obedience; or has He become common, a good luck charm, or a “first responder to handle our 911 call.”
Listen up Warrior!
Let me remind you of Who Our Commander is:
He Is Almighty God and He Is Holy.
As Son of God and Son of Man, Our Commander and King is the Awesome Terrifying Lion of Judah; the Supreme Love of our Life!
He is also the Lamb of God Who became like us in every way so that He could “feel us as we are,” and be our Faithful High Priest to present Himself as full payment for our sin; and appoint Holy Spirit as our Helper to teach us the fear and reverence for our Commander!
Let us Know Our Commander very well as Both the Overwhelming Lion of Judah and the Gentle Lamb Who leads us beside still waters and makes us lie down in green pastures.
As Lion and Lamb He is Forever Holy.
Some of my thoughts on this:
My Worship is focused only on Him and for Him - not on myself or others that I may lead publicly in worship.
My prayer life is a relationship of growing love between You and I, Lord; not an option or a job that I measure like a time card.
When I Speak or Act help me to Hear You and Obey You, so I will not disrespect Your Presence In Me, when I stand before others.
The Warrior must never allow the Holy to become common! Ooooh Rah!
Warrior at your side,
