Good Morning Warrior!
Word for the Day:
“Win the Battle but Lose the War”
Text: Judges 8:23-24
“But Gideon said to them, “I will not rule over you, nor shall my son rule over you; the LORD shall rule over you.”
Then Gideon said to them, “I would like to make a request of you, that each of you would give me the earrings from his plunder.” For they had golden earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.
This principle that we can “Win the Battle but Lose the War,” is on our menu for Breakfast this morning.
This is what Gideon did in our text. He gave the right answer when he said he didn’t want to be a king; yet in the rest of this chapter he acted like a king.
His Words were humble, but his Actions were not.
It’s easy to Talk about humility and service to God, but Living What We Talk is not easy at all.
Our Walk Must Agree With Our Talk!
Gideon Won the Battle with the Midianites but He Lost the War against sin!
One step away from God is all it takes. Taking God’s Glory for yourself is so subtle.
A little whisper from the enemy “congratulating you for Your victory;” and suddenly you begin to congratulate Yourself for what You have achieved…..
Now you “request that others GIVE YOU a Tribute from their reward.
Yes, You Won the Battle but You lost the War against sin; when you took what didn’t belong to you - God’s Glory.
The Faithful Warrior Congratulates and Celebrates their Commander and King Jesus Christ for the Victory HE Won, and GIVES Him a Tribute (His Tithe, and Our Offering) from His Reward of Eternal Life, that He Shares With You and I as sons and daughters of God.
That first step of self-congratulation became a snare to Gideon, his house, and his nation; and destroyed everything he had accomplished together with God.
Listen up Warrior! Our War against sin is not settled with one battle, but with Every Battle! Remember Your Rules of Engagement; sin must be destroyed upon contact! Oooooh Rah!
Gideon lost every battle after this one; idolatry, multiplying wives for himself, multiplying gold for himself, and forgetting God Who had delivered Israel from all her enemies on every side!
“Thus the children of Israel did not remember the LORD their God, who had delivered them from the hands of all their enemies on every side;”(v.34).
Rehearse and Remember these Devine Truth’s that You are Dirt plus God, Your Weakness is God’s Showroom to Display His AWESOME POWER, He Drives and You Ride Shotgun, and He Receives All The Glory for His Wonderful Works in You and I.
Let’s Congratulate and Celebrate Our Commander and King for Each and All the Victories He has Won for us in the Past, is Winning in this Present Day, and will Win in All the Tomorrows of Eternity!
“Now thanks be to God who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and through us diffuses the fragrance of His knowledge in every place.” (2Corin.2:14).
Warrior at your side,
